Originally born in the sunshine state, Lisa moved to Portland, Oregon, where she spent most of her childhood exploring woods, climbing trees, and nurturing a passion for plants and the outdoors. 

She graduated in 1980 from OSU School of Forestry, with a BS in Forestry and Natural History. She and her husband David have lived in Florence for over 24 years, raising their two daughters and helping the Florence community with volunteer hours and vision.

In 1989, Lisa started a wreath making and herb growing business, Laurel Bay Gardens. Over the years, the business expanded to offer landscape construction, irrigation and maintenance. In 2004, she opened Laurel Bay Gardens nursery on its present Hwy 101 location. Some of Lisa’s notable designs and installations include Three Rivers Casino & Hotel, Burns Riverside Chapel, Yachats Fire Station, Florence Dutch Brothers and Powell Residence.  

In 2022, Lisa and David sold the nursery to scale back their work and enjoy their family garden. With Raingardens Design, Lisa gets to share her landscaping expertise and her love of plants and gardening with others.
